Your new role

As our new Acoustics Consultant, you will support the delivery of noise and vibration assessments for a wide range of projects, combining technical analysis, site work and clear reporting. You will be part of our UK Noise & Vibration team in the Environment and Health business area, working alongside experienced acousticians and multidisciplinary colleagues across Ramboll. The role will include undertaking noise and vibration surveys, including work on active construction sites, and supporting assessments for major infrastructure projects, particularly in the rail and energy sectors. You will help prepare calculations, technical reports and advice for clients, planners and project teams, contributing to projects that support sustainable development and manage environmental impacts. You can expect a varied role with opportunities to develop your consultancy skills, work collaboratively with colleagues, and build experience across both site-based and office-based acoustics work.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Undertaking noise and vibration surveys;
  • Carrying out noise and vibration calculations, assessments and reports;
  • Supporting the preparation of proposals for new work;
  • Working on noise assessments for planning, construction noise and vibration monitoring and mitigation, environmental impact assessment, and building acoustics;
  • Contributing to projects across sectors such as rail, residential property, data centres and energy.

About you

  • Have an Acoustics degree, an Institute of Acoustics (IOA) diploma or equivalent and/or have suitable experience;
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of environmental noise and vibration in the transportation and construction sector;
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Hold a full UK driving license;
  • Have a strong work ethic and be organised, flexible and motivated;
  • Have a proven ability to plan, coordinate and monitor own work.

Knowledge or experience of any of the following would also be useful:

  • Noise modelling in CadnaA;
  • Knowledge of scripting in Python;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including working with macros;
  • Noise or vibration surveys;
  • Working on construction sites or having a CSCS card;
  • Being an Associate member of the Institute of Acoustics.
