The Camp staff team consists of counselors, facilitators, and a leadership team, all working together to create and implement the Camp program and contribute to a harmonious environment. The role of the Residential Life Coordinator is to hire, train, and manage the team of counselors who are responsible for the campers’ day-to-day needs. The Coordinator also supports all residential life activities to make Camp comfortable, safe, and inclusive for all campers. As a member of the Camp leadership team, the Residential Life Coordinator will help hire, train, and support the team of counselors before Camp. This will represent a part-time role in the months leading up to Camp (up to 15 hrs/week), and then standard Camp hours during Camp. The anticipated start date for this role is March 2026.

Main Pre-Camp responsibilities

  • Staff hiring, training, and support
  • Assist in the hiring process for counselors, including reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and making selections together with the Camp Director.
  • Run an online training for the counselor staff team before Camp, which will include teambuilding and training in core skills and in behaviour management.
  • Develop and finalize all counselor training materials (manuals, presentations, activity guides).
  • Design staff training activities for Camp-wide staff.
  • Establish a clear communication channel and schedule with the hired counselors to build team cohesion and share pre-Camp reading/prep materials.
  • Review and provide input to the Leadership Team on cabin assignments and general residential life logistics to ensure camper safety and comfort are prioritized.
  • Work with the Camp leadership team to support Camp preparations.

Main responsibilities at Camp

  • Manage and support counselors.
  • Conduct staff training for Camp-wide staff.
  • Give feedback to staff on their job performance.
  • Act as a member of the Camp leadership team in overseeing all residential and programmatic elements of Camp, and ensure camper safety in all aspects of Camp life.

Post-Camp Responsibilities

  • Draft a program report that captures the successes and recommendations for the program.

Additional Camp Support

  • Contribute to an atmosphere of communication, trust, and respect on Camp.
  • Work with the dialogue team (Dialogue Lead and facilitators) in all aspects of Camp coordination, including camper supervision and program support.
  • Adhere to all Seeds of Peace policies and procedures to create a Camp environment that is physically and emotionally safe.
  • Commit to professionalism in an informal educational space.

Prerequisite knowledge, skills, and competencies Required

  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • Significant experience in working with young people in education, peacebuilding, or other experience in training and managing adults in an educational environment.
  • Ability to draft program reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to diffuse situations involving conflict.
  • Highly organized with an excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to motivate self and others.
  • Patience, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Sense of humour and adventure.
  • Comfort with travelling and working in a demanding residential environment.

  • Knowledge of Seeds of Peace Camp philosophies and traditions.
  • Fluency in multiple languages.
  • Significant experience working in a multi-cultural environment, including knowledge of cultural sensitivities regarding Seeds of Peace Delegations.

This position is residential, meaning meals and accommodation are provided during Camp and staff training. Furthermore, the expense of travel to and from Camp and the cost of visa application fees (if applicable) are covered by Seeds of Peace. All staff are required to commit to the full duration of the session (July 18 to August 10), and participate in a mandatory staff training held both online before Camp and in person at Camp from July 10-17.
