Purpose of post
The post holder will report to the Registered Homes Manager and Deputy Manager of the home and will be responsible for residential staff within the home. You will support the Homes Manager and Deputy Manager to manage the resources of the home to provide a positive living experience for the children and young people who are accommodated there.
You will undertake responsibilities in the home under the Care Standards Act 2000, the Children’s Homes Quality Standards and the Children’s Home Regulations 2015/18.

Support children in daily routines, including education, health appointments, activities, and life skills.
Leadership & Team Support
*
Lead shifts and ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and daily logs are completed accurately.

Act as a role model for junior support workers, offering guidance, mentoring, and supervision as required.

Contribute to staff rotas, training needs, and development planning.
Compliance & Safeguarding
*
Ensure adherence to Ofsted regulations, safeguarding policies, and company procedures.
*
Respond effectively to safeguarding concerns, incidents, and emergencies.
*
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
*
Work collaboratively with social workers, families, schools, and external professionals.
*
Attend meetings, reviews, and contribute to care planning for each young person.
Senior Support Worker Team Leader Requirements
*
Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
*
At least 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential care setting.
*
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed care.
*
Ability to lead shifts and supervise junior staff effectively.
*
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
*
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins as required.
