As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Home Manager / Potential Registered Manager to lead our residential home and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations.
Role Overview: As a Home Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of the home. You will ensure that high-quality care is provided, safeguarding the well-being of children and young people. Your role will involve team leadership, compliance management, and working closely with external agencies to maintain outstanding standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Children & Young People:
- Ensure the home provides a warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
- Maintain compliance with all statutory regulations, including Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards.
- Oversee care planning, behaviour management, and risk assessments for each child.
- Promote children’s rights, safety, and development while addressing their individual needs.
- Ensure all safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Supervise and manage the care team, ensuring regular training and development.
- Conduct monthly supervisions and annual appraisals for staff.
- Ensure effective recruitment, induction, and retention of staff to minimize agency dependency.
- Lead team meetings and provide ongoing support to staff in handling challenging situations.
- Maintain effective budget management and financial oversight of the home.
- Ensure occupancy levels are optimized by working proactively with placing authorities.
- Oversee resource allocation, ensuring efficiency in staffing, equipment, and expenditures.
- Act as the Designated Child Protection Officer, ensuring all safeguarding policies are followed.
- Ensure the home is Ofsted compliant, aiming for a "Good" or "Outstanding" rating.
- Maintain high standards in record-keeping, reporting, and policy implementation.
- Address recommendations from Regulation 44 visits in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, social workers, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication regarding children's progress, placement plans, and care reviews.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care – Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 3 years).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting, including 2 years in a senior or deputy managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations 2015, Ofsted guidelines, and Safeguarding Policies.
- Experience in team management, staff supervision, and training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Full UK driving license (Preferred).
Desirable:
- Experience in admissions, assessments, and placement planning.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and learning disabilities.
- Understanding of financial management in residential settings.
