An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Behaviour Support, who has the drive and passion in their thoughts and actions on coordinating the best practice that will meet the health and social care needs of the individuals we support. About the Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead our specialist clinical team and guide the delivery and development of Positive Behaviour Support services across the organisation. This is a pivotal role at an exciting time for SeeAbility. Our vision is to continue building an integrated multi-disciplinary clinical team, currently comprising:

  • Positive Behaviour Support Consultants
  • Vision Rehabilitation Workers

with plans to expand further into:

  • Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT)
  • Sensory-based Occupational Therapy (OT)

You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, outcome-focused and person-centred clinical services, while helping shape the future direction of specialist support within SeeAbility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a fully integrated range of efficient, outcome focused and person-centred specialist clinical services to those we support ensuring up-to-date record keeping and effective caseload management.
  • The development of Positive Behaviour Support Plans, working with PBS consultants to embed these within the support teams within the homes of the people we support.
  • Design, implement and monitor Positive Behaviour Support interventions that improve quality of life and minimize or eliminate behaviour that challenges.
  • Deliver training on topics which relates to behaviour support.
  • Monitor quality aspects and identify where gaps exist in clinical provision and staff knowledge and develop cost effective solutions to fill these gaps.
  • Provide leadership to and support a self-managing team of SaLT, OT, PBS consultants, Vision Rehabilitation Workers in the team and be responsible for recruitment, training and development.
  • Ensure team members are using specialist knowledge and evidence-based practice to inform clinical decision-making.
  • Lead the development of high-quality specialist training, coaching and mentoring activities for support staff which reflect the range of specialist clinical services the team deliver.
  • Design and monitor annual workplans which contributes towards the achievement of the organisations strategic goals and manage the service budget.
  • Work collaboratively with Operational colleagues to foster genuine partnerships and productive working relationships which will benefit those we support.
  • Develop and promote SeeAbility’s specialism, support the acquisition of new business and the generation of income.
  • Take an active role in the design of new services for people who engage in behaviour that challenges.
  • Develop external partnerships and links to enable SeeAbility to take part in research and development projects around support for people with multiple disabilities and sight loss.
  • Work effectively with Fundraising and Marketing colleagues providing advice and support on issues associated with the specialist nature of our work.
  • Strive to ensure that SeeAbility embraces diversity in how it delivers its support and always adhere to the SeeAbility values and code of conduct and philosophy.
  • Ensure staff and you assist in maintaining a safe working environment and follow the requirements of SeeAbility’s Health and Safety Manual (policies and procedures) and any local codes of set working practices.
  • Ensure that staff and service users are familiar with the Equal Opportunities Policy and that it is always followed.
  • Undertake such other duties commensurate with the role of Head of Specialist Services as directed by the Director of Operations.

About You

We're looking for an exceptional leader who understands that success comes through strong relationships, collaboration, accountability and a genuine commitment to improving lives.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • An MSc in a human science subject such as: Applied Behaviour Analysis, Positive Behaviour Support, Applied Psychology with ABA
  • Significant experience leading Positive Behaviour Support services and specialist clinical teams.
  • Experience designing and implementing evidence-based behavioural interventions.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and partnership-building abilities.
  • A passion for person-centred support and improving quality of life outcomes.

Desirable

  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) qualification.
  • UKBA(cert) status, or commitment to achieving certification within 12 months of appointment.
