Role Purpose
Working closely with the UK Personal Tax team you will be responsible for managing and supervising members of the personal tax team in order to deliver a world class personal tax compliance service to clients.
Role Objectives
- Managing a portfolio of personal tax compliance to meet filing deadlines.
- Managing, supervising and training junior members of the tax team with the ability to review work to a high standard.
- Undertaking meetings with new and existing clients to develop and maintain excellent working relationships, identifying advisory opportunities including provision of share schemes, inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning and referrals within the wider business.
- Working closely with the corporation tax compliance team to obtain information required to complete clients’ self-assessment tax returns.
- Preparing self-assessment tax returns to a high-quality standard, providing an all-round service with the emphasis on each client's individual requirements.
- Demonstration of knowledge with regards to P11Ds, tax credits, tax codes, pension relief, gift aid relief claims for charities and dealing with HMRC Compliance.
- Completion of self-employed accounts and schedules of income from property.
- Be comfortable with and able to travel around the Glasgow/Kilmarnock region to work with colleagues across two office sites and meet with clients.
Your knowledge, skills and experience
- Qualified ATT or CTA (or both) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a private practice tax environment (part qualified will be considered if experience requirement met).
- Robust post qualification experience in a private practice tax environment.
- Technically strong with a passion for knowledge and the ability to think creatively.
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing client relationships and building internal networks to deliver a service that is beyond expectation.
- Experience of supervising junior team members and carrying out in-depth reviews, providing constructive feedback to support professional and technical development.
- Strong written communication skills, demonstrating excellent attention to detail and report writing skills.
- Organised with excellent time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Process improvement mindset to ensure the personal tax team continues to deliver a world class service.
- Comfortable with Networking and Business Development.
