About the Role

We are looking for an intellectually curious and commercially minded R&D Tax Consultant to join our growing team. Whether your background is technical, scientific, or financial, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact for innovative businesses across the UK.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage the end-to-end preparation and submission of R&D tax relief claims under the merged R&D scheme and the Enhanced R&D Intensive Support (ERIS) regime
  • Provide technical guidance to clients on the identification and qualification of eligible activities and expenditure in accordance with HMRC guidelines and current legislation
  • Prepare and critically review R&D tax technical reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with HMRC's published guidance
  • Support clients operating across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, engineering, financial technology, and life sciences, adapting technical approach to sector-specific contexts
  • Manage an allocated client caseload through all stages of the engagement, from initial scoping and technical interviews through to final submission, operating with appropriate supervision from senior members of the team
  • This is a client-facing role. You will spend meaningful time with the businesses you support, building genuine relationships rather than running a transactional process.
  • Lead kick-off meetings and technical interviews with client stakeholders
  • Translate complex technical and scientific information into clear, HMRC-compliant narratives
  • Act as a trusted point of contact throughout the claims process, keeping clients informed at every stage
  • Identify opportunities to add further value across Sedulo's wider service offering

What We Are Looking for:

We are open on background, what matters most is curiosity, commercial awareness, and a commitment to doing things properly:

  • Experience in R&D tax relief, either from a consultancy, accountancy practice, or an in-house innovation/finance function
  • Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts, whether your grounding is in science, engineering, or finance
  • Strong written communication skills, you will be producing technical narratives and client-facing reports regularly
  • Organised, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of HMRC's current compliance expectations and the merged scheme is advantageous

What we offer

We’re committed to supporting our people both professionally and personally. Our benefits are designed to help you thrive inside and outside of work:

  • 26 days’ holiday per year (including your birthday as a paid day off), plus all public bank holidays and two paid volunteering days.
  • Flexible & Hybrid Working: Enjoy flexible working hours with core hours between 10am and 4pm, and the option to work remotely for up to 20% of your working week.
