We are user led and totally voluntary, working as a team toward a shared vision. We are looking for a PR Volunteer who will build relationships with journalists and media contacts, identify press opportunities, and help raise awareness of our work and campaigns.
Your input to our brand and coproduced marketing materials will shape how we present ourselves to our service users, stakeholders, funders and the general public. What are we looking for?
- We are looking for a confident and creative volunteer with strong communication and writing skills, with a professional background in PR, marketing, journalism, or media.
- Experience with social media, content writing, or media outreach would also be beneficial.
- Remote.
What will you be doing?
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key media.
- Develop media contacts database using desk research and free tools.
- Develop media hooks and talking points. Update these as required.
- Monitor coverage opportunities using your own/free PR tools and software.
- Monitor the industry to come up with fresh PR stories or identify trends to piggy-back on.
- Assist with writing for press releases as a team member that will be issued by the charity.
- Manage the approval process for all press releases.
- Maintain and update media lists and contact databases.
- Identify ways to work with our leaders to engage stakeholders and identify appropriate speaking engagements.
- Work closely with trustees to identify new opportunities and increase donations.
- Contribute stories that can help us grow our social media presence.
- Collaborate with the growing voluntary marketing team.
- Provide assistance with our online blogs, based on trends observed across media.
- Maintain a calendar of opportunities.
