As an Estimator, you'll be part of a technically capable, commercially aware team known for tackling complex, multi-phase regeneration and infrastructure schemes. From contaminated land and ground engineering to major site preparation and earthworks, you'll contribute to projects that prepare land for safe, sustainable development.

The culture is professional yet practical – your input will be valued, your ideas heard, and the impact of your work visible on high-profile sites. The business continues to grow steadily and has a well-established record of internal progression, alongside structured support for training and professional development.

Based on internal contractor and business development mapping documents, the contractor is recognised as a Tier 1 / major remediation contractor, delivering large-scale soil and groundwater remediation projects across the country. Their activities span:

  • Environmental and geotechnical investigation follow-ups
  • In-situ and ex-situ remediation solutions
  • Site clearance and enabling works
  • Waste management and treatment
  • Project management for complex remediation schemes

Their integrated systems reflect a strong focus on safety, quality, and environmental compliance, aligning with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

Role Overview

As an Estimator, you’ll play a key role in securing future work across remediation, earthworks, and infrastructure schemes. This is not a purely desk-based role — you'll work closely with engineers, delivery teams, and clients to develop accurate, practical tenders that reflect real site conditions and buildability. It’s a position suited to someone who values technical variety, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in seeing tenders develop into successful, live projects. You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive team where initiative is encouraged, and where the structured approach of a larger contractor is balanced with the agility and personal touch of a specialist business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions for civil, utilities, and infrastructure works
  • Review drawings, specifications, and ground investigation data to assess scope and risk
  • Work with design, delivery, and operational teams to refine methodology and pricing
  • Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Maintain cost databases and benchmarking information
  • Identify commercial and technical risks and recommend mitigation measures
  • Support bid reviews, negotiations, and pre-contract handovers

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management
  • Experience in estimating within civil engineering, utilities, remediation, or earthworks
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of cost and risk management
  • Confident user of estimating software and Excel
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required

Package & Benefits

  • £50k - £55k salary depending on experience
  • Car allowance or company vehicle
  • Annual performance bonus
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Pension contributions and private healthcare
  • Ongoing training and development with clear career progression
  • Exposure to major infrastructure and regeneration projects
