We are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a major infrastructure scheme in Hampshire. They are looking to appoint a site-based Health & Safety Advisor to support delivery on this project.
You will be part of an experienced HSE team, working closely with site management to maintain standards, improve behaviours, and ensure safe delivery across the scheme. This is a hands-on position, focused on site engagement rather than paperwork. You will be visible on site, working directly with operatives, supervisors, and management.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting site teams with day-to-day health and safety compliance
- Coaching operatives and supervisors on safe systems of work
- Carrying out site inspections and audits, with clear feedback to management
- Supporting incident investigations and reporting
- Assisting with RAMS, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
- Promoting and maintaining ISO 45001 standards
- Driving behavioural safety and continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaising with clients, regulators, and external stakeholders
- NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
- IOSH membership, ideally working towards Chartered status
- Proven experience within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of site-based risks within earthworks, drainage, or heavy civils environments
- Confident communicator, able to engage with operatives through to senior management
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a site-based role
- Good understanding of HSE systems, reporting, and compliance
- Full UK driving licence
- £50,000 - £55,000 salary
- Car or car allowance
- £65 per night tax-free lodge
