Sedna is at the forefront of revolutionising global trade, serving as the North Star for businesses navigating the complexities of international commerce.

Our AI-powered platform is designed to make global trade more efficient, transparent, and sustainable.

As we continue to grow and innovate, we are looking for exceptional talent to join our journey and contribute to our mission of transforming global trade.

Sedna is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our dynamic Platform Engineering team.

In this critical role, you will ensure the high availability, performance, and scalability of Sedna's Saa S solutions.

Working at the intersection of development and operations, you will play a key role in automating our infrastructure, improving system reliability, and driving efficiency across our platforms.

Our services mostly run on AWS, with some systems running on Azure and GCP.

Languages in use include Kotlin, Elixir, Java and Python.

We use a broad range of technologies including Kubernetes, My SQL, Postgre SQL, Oracle, Open Search and Kafka.

Our platforms are critical to global trade and are used by users across the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We process many millions of emails and other transactions each day, and our storage is at petabyte scale.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable, resilient cloud-based infrastructure using industry best practices.
  • Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment and system management.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement strategies to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with development and product teams to enhance the scalability and efficiency of the application architecture.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations, providing expert support for critical system incidents and ensuring rapid resolution.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.

In your first 90 days, you can expect

  • You’ll be hands on from day one, working to make Sedna faster, more scalable, more efficient and more secure.
  • We’ll invest in getting you familiar with our platforms rapidly.

You’ll pair with members of the platform engineering team, architects and developers to gain an in-depth understanding of how everything works.

  • We’ll help you build a full understanding of the environment in which we work and we’ll get you up to speed with our planning and roadmapping processes, so you can start influencing the direction of Platform Engineering.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in SRE, Dev Ops, Platform Engineering or similar roles, operating and evolving production infrastructure at large scale, ideally within complex, distributed, or high‑availability environments where uptime, security and data integrity are business‑critical.
  • Designed or significantly re‑architected cloud infrastructure (not just maintained it), diagnosed and resolved production incidents under pressure, and can point to specific systems you’ve made more resilient, scalable, or cost‑efficient.
  • Highly proficient with AWS – VPC, IAM, ELB/WAF, EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, Kinesis, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, Sage Maker, Bedrock, Open Search, RDS, Elasti Cache, SES, KMS and more.
  • Demonstrable experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Ia C) tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, and Ansible.
  • A tenacious problem‑solver with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving system bottlenecks and stability issues.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of working collaboratively across both technical and non‑technical teams, being able to explain complex technical issues in clear, understandable terms.
  • Passionate about learning new technologies and continuously improving systems and processes.
  • Experience in compliant environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701).
  • Experience in Azure, including MS Graph, and/or GCP.
  • Understanding of information security concerns and demonstrable experience of working cross‑functionally across organisations to ensure and improve security.
  • Experience with Kotlin, Java or Elixir – the ability to read, debug and edit existing code is significantly more important than writing green‑field code.
  • Exposure to advanced k8s ecosystem tooling, including Karpenter and cdk8s.

Our Values

  • Finally, culture is important to us, so we also look for candidates who share our values:
  • Stay Ahead, Stay Agile
  • We don’t just adapt – we anticipate change and act with confidence.
  • Curiosity, data, and customer insights help us stay ahead of the curve.
  • We embrace challenges as opportunities and remain resilient under pressure.
  • By staying open to new ideas and ways of working, we lead the future.
  • Execute With Focus
  • We turn strategy into action, delivering measurable results that matter.
  • Every initiative counts – discipline and ownership drive business impact.
  • We make smart decisions with speed, balancing pace and precision.
  • Clear priorities keep us focused on what moves the needle.
  • Work Together, Win Together
  • Collaboration is our superpower – we succeed as one team, internally and with customers.
  • We co‑create solutions, seek feedback, and build the future of the OS together.
  • Strong relationships are built on trust, respect, and shared goals.
  • By aligning across teams and with customers, we unlock greater impact.
