The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for Desktop Liability Adjusters / Liability Claims Handlers to join our growing liability team, working remotely from anywhere in the UK. In this technical role, you'll manage a caseload of Employer's Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), occupational disease and/or Third‐Party Property Damage claims on behalf of our insurer and corporate clients. You'll take ownership of claims from initial investigation through to resolution, working independently as well as under referral where appropriate.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing EL/PL injury, disease and/or third‐party property damage claims on a desktop basis
  • Investigating policy coverage and legal liability, providing clear, well‐reasoned advice
  • Investigating allegations against policyholders and collating relevant evidence
  • Identifying potential fraud indicators and escalating concerns where appropriate
  • Managing litigation and working closely with panel solicitors when required
  • Maintaining proactive contact with claimants, policyholders, insurers, brokers and other stakeholders
  • Delivering fair, timely and cost‐effective claim outcomes
  • Ensuring accurate and compliant maintenance of claim files, databases and correspondence

What we're looking for

  • Strong knowledge of current case law, common law, statute and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience handling liability claims (EL/PL, disease and/or property damage)
  • Insurance qualifications are desirable, though relevant experience is equally valued
  • Good understanding of insurance law and policy wording interpretation
  • Knowledge of contract law, statute and civil liability
  • Strong investigative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with insurers, brokers, corporate clients and small businesses
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Influencing skills to gain agreement on decisions and settlement strategies
  • Empathetic listening skills and a customer‐focused approach
  • Motivation to deliver a prompt, efficient and personalised service
