Sedgwick Resource Solutions are seeking a subsidence building consultant/surveyor to join our clients award-winning Subsidence Services Division, a team recognised for excellence in subsidence claim management.
As a Building Consultant, you will manage a diverse portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims in addition to visiting sites relating to those claims. This requires strong technical skills or qualifications in diagnosis, mitigation, and repair strategies.
You will work closely with customers, colleagues and service partners to deliver accurate technical assessments, high-quality reports, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims through to settlement
- Diagnose causes of building movement (subsidence, heave, landslips, drainage)
- Hold, and attend virtual meetings with customers and stakeholders
- Work with suppliers to instruct the relevant specialist to carry out the recommendations
- Conduct face-to-face on-site property inspections with customers when required
- Assess structural defects and specify appropriate repair solutions and produce clear, accurate technical reports for insurers
- Reinstatement scope reviews
- Liaise with surveyors, engineers, contractors, loss adjusters and policyholders
- Maintain strong SLA compliance and timely claim progression
- Deliver empathetic, professional communication throughout each claim
- Chartered construction/building qualification or working towards one: MCIOB, MRICS, MICE
- Experience dealing with subsidence issues working for a loss adjuster, insurance company or specialist contractor.
- Strong understanding of structural defects and building/construction pathology
- Ability to diagnose subsidence, heave and landslip
- Familiarity with building and drainage repair techniques
- Excellent communication skills and customer empathy
- Strong decision‑making and organisational ability
- Valid UK driving licence
- Insurance claims handling experience (training provided if not)
- Familiarity with: CDM Regulations, Party Wall Act
