We have an exciting opportunity for an Architect to join Sedgwick Commercial Surveying & Design.

Sedgwick Commercial Surveying and Design, part of Sedgwick International, is seeking an Architectural Technologist to support a growing workload. The role focuses on producing clear and accurate planning and building control applications, along with construction and tender drawings and written specifications. A sound working knowledge of current UK building regulations is essential.

You will work confidently across RIBA stages 4 to 7 and bring proven experience from similar projects. The position suits someone who can take ownership, organise their workload, and run projects with minimal supervision while maintaining high technical standards.

When necessary, you will take the lead on site. This includes managing projects across the UK and travelling when required. Schemes typically range from £150k to £2m and span residential, commercial, care, hospitality, retail, leisure, refurbishment and conservation work. Each project calls for a practical, calm and professional approach.

Alongside design and delivery, you will build strong working relationships. This means working closely with clients, consultants and main contractors to keep programmes on track and resolve issues quickly. Clear communication, good time management and a positive attitude are key to success in this role.

Day to day, you will prepare and submit planning and building control applications, produce coordinated drawing packages, and write clear specifications. You will also support colleagues by sharing knowledge, staying reliable under pressure and contributing positively to the wider team culture.

This is perfect for someone who enjoys technical design, likes seeing projects through from drawings to site, and wants a role with responsibility, variety and the chance to lead while still being part of a supportive team.

The skills you will have when you apply:

  • Driving & Site Access: A full UK driving licence, with the ability to travel to sites and meetings as needed.

  • Technical Drawing & Design: Hands-on experience producing planning applications, construction and tender drawings, and written specifications across different building types.

  • Regulations & Standards: A solid working knowledge of current UK building regulations, with experience of English standards preferred and Scottish knowledge welcomed.

  • Software & Technical Coordination: Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, with Revit experience preferred, and confidence preparing and coordinating technical information with others.

  • Communication & Teamwork: Clear, confident communication skills, a supportive team approach, and the ability to work well with people of all backgrounds and roles.

  • Problem Solving & Organisation: A flexible and practical problem solver, able to manage time well, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing priorities.
