We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Desktop Liability Adjuster / Claims Handler specialising in Disease to join our team. We are looking for dedicated professionals with experience in occupational disease claims to join our growing team. You will manage a caseload of disease claims (such as NIHL, HAVS, respiratory and other long-tail exposures), with flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
This technical role involves investigating policy and legal liability, settling claims for our insurer and corporate clients, and handling complex occupational disease claims independently and under referral. You will investigate allegations against policyholders, assess causation and liability in disease cases, collate relevant medical and employment evidence, identify fraud risks, and maintain proactive communication with all parties. You'll also manage litigation where appropriate and ensure accurate handling of all systems, documentation, and correspondence.
The skills you will have when you apply:
- Extensive technical expertise in occupational disease claims, including demonstrable experience managing complex Mesothelioma matters alongside NIHL, HAVS, respiratory disease and other long-tail exposures (e.g. asbestosis, pleural thickening, COPD, noise-induced conditions), as well as short-tail conditions such as dermatitis and RSI.
- Advanced capability in analysing causation and critically evaluating medical evidence across a broad spectrum of long-tail exposure claims, encompassing asbestos-related disease, respiratory conditions, vibration injuries, hearing loss and occupational skin disorders.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant statute, case law and regulatory frameworks, including practical application within both Scottish and Northern Irish legal jurisdictions.
- Highly developed investigative acumen with meticulous attention to evidential detail, alongside the ability to interpret complex policy wordings and apply core insurance principles with accuracy.
- Confident and effective communication capability, enabling strong stakeholder management, combined with a professional and empathetic approach when handling sensitive claimant matters.
- Proven collaborative approach with clients, colleagues and external partners, underpinned by a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and commitment to delivering a consistently high-quality service.
