Are you a recent graduate or early-career professional looking for a career that combines investigation, problem-solving, commercial awareness and international exposure? We're looking for a Graduate / Development Average Adjuster to join our Liverpool team. This is a rare opportunity to enter the specialist world of marine insurance and develop into a highly respected technical professional. As an Average Adjuster, you'll work alongside experienced experts who help shipowners, insurers and brokers resolve complex marine insurance claims arising from incidents around the world. Through structured training and mentoring, you'll learn how to analyse claims, interpret insurance policies, investigate losses and deliver fair and accurate claim settlements. Liverpool has a rich maritime history and remains an important hub for the global marine industry, making it the perfect place to begin your career in this fascinating sector.

No two days are the same. One day you could be reviewing documentation relating to a machinery damage to the ship; the next, helping calculate the financial impact of a major marine casualty affecting multiple stakeholders across different countries. What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting senior Average Adjusters on a wide range of marine insurance claims.
• Learning how to investigate marine incidents and understand their financial impact.
• Reviewing documentation, contracts and insurance policy wordings.
• Assisting with claim calculations and settlement recommendations.
• Communicating with shipowners, insurers, brokers, surveyors and legal professionals globally.
• Producing clear reports and maintaining accurate records.
• Developing specialist knowledge of marine insurance, shipping and claims adjustment.
• Travelling within the UK and overseas to attend client meetings and attend relevant market events.

What We’re Looking For

We recognise that the best candidates may not have direct industry experience. We're interested in individuals with the right attitude, curiosity and desire to learn. The skills you will have when you apply:

• Analytical Mindset – Enjoy solving problems, investigating facts and working with detail.
• Strong Communication Skills – Able to build relationships and explain information clearly.
• Attention to Detail – Committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Commercial Awareness – Interest in shipping, insurance, global trade or financial services.
• Degree Educated – Ideally in Maritime Studies, Law, or a related discipline.
• Curiosity & Ambition – Motivated to learn and develop a specialist skill set.
• Teamwork – Collaborative approach with a willingness to support colleagues and clients.
• Previous experience in insurance, financial services, legal services, shipping or claims handling would be beneficial, but is not essential.
