The role
The Sustainability Programme Manager will lead the delivery of Sedex's sustainability programme, working cross-functionally with other internal functions to inform and deliver the sustainability roadmap. This is a 12 months Fixed Term Contract.
Key Responsibilities
- First point of contact in the business for the Sedex sustainability programme, covering the following areas:
- Reporting: Track on a regular basis ESG reporting metrics, supported by externally recognised framework where relevant in preparation for annual reporting. Provide regular status updates (bi-monthly / quarterly / annually).
- Environment: Ensure quality data collection on a regular basis allowing for yearly carbon reporting while implementing emission reduction measures in line with our net zero targets, implementing our 2026 Environmental roadmap.
- Social: Implement the 2026 DEI programme in collaboration with other relevant Sedex functions.
- Governance: Lead the delivery of the 2026 Modern Slavery programme and support the Sedex Legal team and HR team with the compliance monitoring programme.
- Vendor Management: Carry out vendor risk assessment and lead on subsequent vendor engagement initiatives.
- Engagement: Run employee engagement initiatives of the Sustainability Network as per the 2026 programme.
- Monitor externally for emerging trends, risks and opportunities for Sedex's sustainability and responsibility agenda. Keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in sustainability.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders across Sedex to continually improve sustainability practices across Sedex and to embed initiatives in a pragmatic way.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders as required.
- Support the development and delivery of relevant training for colleagues across functions and regions on key sustainability issues together with colleagues or other subject matter experts.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Desired experience working in sustainability and understanding of current sustainability & ESG challenges for businesses.
- Previous experience delivering a corporate sustainability strategy would be an advantage.
- Excellent project and time management skills - Project or programme management certification is a plus – e.g. Prince 2, Agile, MSP.
- Leads collaboratively and with success in a cross-functional environment.
- Highly organised; ability to manage more than one assignment at any one time; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Stakeholder engagement skills and experience of working with multiple stakeholders both internal and external at all levels and across a global organisation to achieve desired outcomes.
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
- An effective communicator with the ability to adjust style depending upon the audience.
