About the role
Our Commercial Property Team are looking for a Paralegal to be a part of their team who will work closely with the fee earners, the team’s existing paralegal and the department’s Paralegal Manager.
You will provide paralegal and administrative support on live transactions, working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks.
The nature of the work requires someone who thrives in a deadline driven environment.
Some of the fee earners within the Team occasionally carry out Residential transactions and you will also be required to provide assistance with these transactions.
Key Tasks
- Performing Legal Research;
- Dealing with Land Registry Applications to include AP1s, CH2, FR1s, UN1 - UN4, RX1 – RX4, AN1s and Document Downloads;
- Dealing with Stamp Duty Land Tax Forms and submissions;
- Order appropriate Searches without fee earner listing what is required for a standard property;
- Dealing with Third Parties directly in order to obtain legal documentation;
- Performing general administrative duties;
- Accessing data rooms issued by other solicitors to obtain documents;
- Obtaining Land Registry documents such as OCEs, listed OCE documentation, OS1s, OS2s, K17s and historical documents;
- Liaising with Mortgage companies including calls, emails and dealing with online portals e. g. LMS and Lender Exchange;
- Collating documents for sending out Report on Titles;
- Assisting fee earners with documents to be signed by Docu Sign;
- Dealing with all post-completion matters to the point of a file being closed;
- Drafting Deeds Schedules;
- Drafting documents from precedent templates in accordance with HOT on development sites;
- Providing general day to day assistance on active live matters;
- Assisting with Financial Statement and Completion Statements;
- Dealing with redemptions and further advances;
- Drafting finance documents based upon templates;
- Drafting security documents based upon templates;
- You will be responsible to report back to the Department’s Paralegal Manager on tasks that are in hand.
Skills and experience
- 12 months of previous experience working within a fast paced legal/professional services team is essential.
- Strong academic results including at least a 2:1 degree and has preferably passed the LPC or SQE.
- Experience of using practice management scheme is desirable, and knowledge of i Manage would be advantageous but not essential.
- Proficient in use of MS Office (specifically Word, and Excel).
- Excellent administration, organisational and prioritisation skills with ability to manage time efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Sensitive verbal and written communication skills.
