Sedbergh School, founded in 1525 by Roger Lupton, Provost of Eton, is one of the leading co-educational boarding Schools in the north of England. Set in the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park and within easy reach of UNESCO World Heritage site the English Lake District, the School also benefits from fast motorway and rail access to the rest of the UK.

The Senior School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Housemaster/Housemistress to lead one of our boys’ houses. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care, leadership and development of the boarding house and all of its pupils in a thriving and dynamic full-boarding school.

Essential Criteria for the role:

  • Teaching Qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
  • Excellent academic qualifications and subject knowledge
  • Pastoral care of pupils in a boarding setting
  • Ability to establish positive, collaborative and supportive working relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
  • Warm and engaging manner, and a positive outlook
  • Highly-effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong listening skills and approachability
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to details
