The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for carrying out planned, predictive and reactive mechanical maintenance to ensure optimum efficiency of all machinery and plant requirements are met. Involvement in all mechanical activities on a day-to-day basis, current projects, and future projects.
Key activities and Responsibilities
- Perform planned, predictive, and reactive mechanical maintenance in a timely manner, whilst adhering to safe working procedures.
- Attending breakdowns, fault finding and conducting rectifications of faults.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspection (PM), diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components including pumps, centrifuges, screw conveyors, gearboxes, milling equipment, pulleys, shafts, bearing and belts.
- Perform Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) and greasing schedules.
- Involvement in the testing, improvement and maintenance of manufacturing processes and infrastructure.
- Work in conjunction with contractors/vendor service teams when more specialised skills are required.
- Support the implementation of a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) of all repairs, servicing, and modifications to equipment.
- Work towards a zero-breakdown and zero-stop mentality.
- Assist with all other site service requirements as they arise.
- Take Health, Safety and Environmental ownership of yourself, others and activities within your areas of responsibility and raising all HSE concerns you become aware of, outside your areas of responsibility, with relevant managers.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably requested.
Skills & Knowledge
- Apprentice trained or relevant mechanical engineering qualifications, with the ability to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work unsupervised when tasked to do so, and to organise the work of others, where relevant, in response to the site needs.
- Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities, whilst working to high standards and time constraints.
- Machine shop experience would be beneficial.
- Positive and proactive problem solver.
- Experience in fabrication and welding such as TIG, MMA, MIG etc.
- Perform all duties in compliance with Health, Safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather, including working outside, in production areas and on-site workshop.
- Able to work in a team environment, with good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to interact at all levels within an organisation.
- Ability to be on call out of hours on a rota system.
