Role Purpose: The Laboratory Quality Technician is part of the Laboratory Team reporting into the Laboratory Manager. The individual will assist in all aspects of quality assurance testing and development in relation to the manufacturing of our products. The employee will be responsible for ensuring daily retrieval of samples from production, logistics and effluent areas, conducting analytical tests on raw materials, finished goods and effluent waste, calibration of test equipment and general housekeeping of the laboratory.

Main Responsibilities: Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Retrieval of samples of raw material and finished products
  • Perform analysis on products according to defined analytical methods and standard operating procedures
  • Conducting of analytic tests
  • Prepare and standardise solutions needed to conduct tests
  • Prepare and calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Accurately record all results and data for analysis and compliance with ISO and company requirements
  • Report out of specification results
  • Prepare and dispatch samples to customers or external labs
  • Practice a clean as you go policy to maintain laboratory hygiene
  • Take Health, Safety and Environmental ownership of yourself, others and activities within your areas of responsibility and raising all HSE concerns you become aware of, outside your areas of responsibility, with relevant managers
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably requested

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Previous laboratory experience (preferred)
  • Aptitude to learn how to perform a wide range of technical skills including sample preparation for analysis and techniques such as HPLC and GC
  • Ability to work accurately and follow specific instructions in a complex work environment
  • Ability to calculate figures encompassing proportions, percentages, ratios, and volume
  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks and work without continuous supervision
  • Strong organisational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high attention to detail
  • Be proactive and self-motivated with good communication skills
  • Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft software
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently, whilst strictly following all health safety requirements

Note: 40 hour working week – (shift work between the hours of 6am – 6pm). Overtime as required with weekend working on a rotational basis.
