Salary: £75,801 – £86,000 (location dependent). Sector leading benefits include a 28.97% pension contribution Location: Manchester or London. Two days per week must be spent in the Manchester or Canary Wharf, London offices. The SIA exists to protect the public through effective regulation of the private security industry. We are a high performing regulator, working collaboratively with industry, enforcement agencies, Government, and the devolved administrations to raise standards across the security industry sector. We have an important role, contributing to public protection through the effective regulation of certain private security activities across the UK, licensing over 450,000 security personnel and raising standards of private security. You will join us at a time of change and increased public interest in us and our work. Earlier this year, Parliament passed new legislation which named the SIA as the new, independent, Martyn’s Law regulator; an important and substantial role that will raise the standards of preparedness and protective security across the UK. In light of this, our intelligence and reporting capability must be further developed to cover both our existing private security work and our new role as regulator of Martyn’s Law. Reporting to the Executive Director of PSIA Inspections and Enforcement, you will be responsible for the set-up, mobilisation and leadership of new SIA-wide shared intelligence service and reporting centres supporting SIA’s regulatory work. This covers both licensing and approvals of private security, and our new Martyn’s Law functions. Entailing close collaboration with colleagues to develop and evolve our strategic approach to intelligence, and reporting in line with SIA’s requirements and Parliament’s expectations, you will help shape the regulatory environment, setting up appropriate policies, processes, and systems, and providing inspiring, developmental leadership to a multi-disciplined team during this period of fast paced change and high delivery expectations. With a track record of senior leadership and performance success in organisations with national reach (government, private or public sectors), you will bring experience of developing, leading and iteratively developing intelligence and/or risk-based assessment functions in a regulatory or public authority setting to sanction, deter and disrupt non-compliance and drive positive changes in sector/industry behaviours. To this end, you will be a strategic thinker and collaborative team player, with inclusive, developmental leadership credentials and the confidence to advise and make complex, high profile decisions when required.
