NEW OUTSIDE IR35 CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE FOR AN ACOUSTO MECHANICAL MODELLING ENGINEER IN SOUTHAMPTON Searchability NS&D has a contract opportunity for an Acousto Mechanical Modelling Engineer to work across an exciting range of projects Up to £722pd OUTSIDE IR35 For more details please call me on 07842 002 256 or email shaun.varley@searchability.com WHAT WILL THE ACOUSTO MECHANICAL MODELLING ENGINEER BE DOING? Survey and identification of available COTS hardware for acoustic piezoelectric transducers and ICP/IEPE and/ or MEMS accelerometers appropriate for given system requirements and constraints. Design of novel transducer and sensor mounting methods in CAD or similar for porting into numerical solver software (see below). Modelling the following using appropriate numerical solver software such as COMSOL, Ansys Mechanical, Simulia etc. Piezoelectric transducers. Propagation of structural vibrations. ICP/IEPE and/or MEMS accelerometers. Validation of the models against real-world measured data would be undertaken along with assessment of the models shortcomings and implementation of subsequent improvements. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Background in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics or related STEM field. Highly experienced in Finite Element Analysis and other appropriate numerical solvers. Specialism in appropriate mechanical solver software such as COMSOL, Ansys Mechanical, Simulia, etc. Knowledge of piezoelectric transducers and ICP/IEPE and MEMS accelerometers. Appreciation of communication systems would be beneficial. Experience in the design and/or modelling of acoustic transducers and sensors using mechanical simulation software such as COMSOL. Validate models against real-world measured data, assess shortcomings of the model and make improvements accordingly. Direct support to measurement campaigns and involvement in field trials would also be desired. Successful applicant must be eligible to attain BPSS Security Clearance. TO BE CONSIDERED….
