We’re Hiring: Security Officer

Location: York North Yorkshire, UK

Pay: £14.36 per hour

Hours: 52 hours per week - The shift pattern for this role consists of Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 17:00, followed by Saturday and Sunday night shifts from 19:00 to 07:00, then three days off, followed by Thursday and Friday night shifts from 19:00 to 07:00, then two days off before the shift pattern starts again.

Responsibilities:

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

  • Protection of Property and Premises
    • Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV as appropriate.
    • Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
    • Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions as required.
    • Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate.
    • Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
    • Ensure any equipment provided by the customer and Securitas is managed in accordance with procedures detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
    • Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
    • Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
    • Deal with lost property in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
  • Health and Safety
    • Provide support, guidance, and information to all staff, visitors, and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises.
    • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times. Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards, and unsafe working practices to supervisor/manager.
    • Report and record all accidents in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
    • Ensure all walkways and emergency escape routes are always kept clear.
    • Report any usage of First Aid equipment and shortfalls in the contents of First Aid boxes.

Qualifications:

We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A valid SIA licence.
  • Physically fit for patrolling of site.
  • Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends.
  • The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history.
  • Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken.
