We are seeking Vessel Fire & Safety Officers to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness.
This is a shift-based role, 365 days a year, where you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety of personnel and assets in challenging environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring fire safety and hot work compliance, including adherence to Hot Work Permit requirements.
- Conducting fire safety inspections for hazards such as gas locations, flammable substances, and storage issues.
- Inspecting all spaces, including behind bulkheads and adjacent compartments, prior to hot work.
- Ensuring correct fire safety signage is displayed, visible, and adhered to.
- Familiarity with all hand-portable and external fire-fighting equipment, ensuring their serviceability.
- Working closely with other trades, understanding flushing/testing systems, and halting unsafe operations.
- Carrying out any additional duties as directed by the Fire Manager/Supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
You must be comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, in low light/dark conditions, hazardous and outdoor environments, and across various facilities at BAE Systems Barrow site. Maintaining a high level of personal fitness is essential.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- Day Shift: £14.10/hour, rotating 4-day shifts (Sunday – Friday), 06:30am – 5:00pm, with monthly Saturday training.
- Night Shift: £14.77/hour, Monday – Thursday, 8:00pm – 6:30am.
