📍 Location: This role covers multiple locations across Essex and Hertfordshire, including Harlow, Hertfordshire, Grays, Stanford-le-Hope, Basildon, Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea
💰 Pay: £13.50 per hour
📅 Hours: 36 hours per week

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Relief Security Officer to support a range of sites across a defined geographical area. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a varied environment, adapting quickly to different locations, teams, and site requirements. As a key representative of the security team, you’ll help protect employees, property, and assets while consistently demonstrating the core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness🛡️

As a Relief Security Officer, you will cover shifts as needed, carrying out essential duties such as monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, preventing unauthorised access, and conducting internal and external patrols in line with site-specific instructions. You’ll also assist with key management, traffic control, parking enforcement, and routine equipment checks to ensure the safety and smooth operation of each site.

Job Description

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV as appropriate
• Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate
• Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions
• To provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

• A valid SIA licence
• Full driving licence with access to own vehicle
• Willing to drive around Essex and Hertfordshire
• Punctual and reliable
• Flexible
• The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history
• Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken
