Purpose of the Role
The Security Officer plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across the organisation, working closely with the security supervisor to ensure high standards of safety and professionalism. The position supports the protection of staff, patients, visitors, buildings, and assets through proactive patrols, incident response, access control, and strict adherence to established security procedures set by the security supervisor. The role also contributes to delivering high-quality customer service, ensuring that all individuals on-site feel safe, supported, and well-informed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, comprehensive patrols across the site to maintain safety and security.
- Ensure all alarms, fire exits, and secure areas are functioning correctly and report any issues promptly.
- Manage access control, including monitoring entry and exit points and issuing authorised passes.
- Respond rapidly and appropriately to incidents such as intruders, fire alarms, disturbances, and suspicious activity.
- Monitor CCTV systems and ensure any concerns identified are investigated and escalated where required.
- Complete accurate incident reports, daily occurrence logs, and other relevant documentation.
- Support emergency procedures, including evacuations and liaising with emergency services.
- Maintain communication with the Security Site Manager to ensure smooth operations and consistent reporting.
- Provide professional, approachable support to staff, patients, visitors, and contractors.
- Assist individuals with directions, general enquiries, and reassurance when needed.
- Engage positively and communicate clearly to maintain a supportive environment.
- Assist in challenging situations, including lost individuals, disputes, or those requiring additional support.
- Ensure a supportive, visible presence within public and reception areas.

Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:
- The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history.
- Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken.
- Previous experience working in a security role or equivalent environment.
- Understanding of security procedures, access control systems, and emergency response processes.
- Experience monitoring CCTV, radios, and other security equipment.
- Ability to negotiate and de-escalate difficult situations using effective communication techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and organisational policies.
- A valid SIA licence is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends.
