What Does a Security Officer Do

Security Officers play a vital role in protecting people, property, and information. They act as a visual deterrent, prevent unauthorized access, monitor for suspicious activity, and respond to incidents and emergencies. This position helps ensure the safety and security of premises 24/7.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor premises to deter and detect security breaches
  • Manage access control and verify ID for staff, visitors, and contractors
  • Respond quickly to alarms and emergencies in a calm, effective manner
  • Maintain detailed logs and incident reports
  • Conduct regular internal and external security checks
  • Operate CCTV and other monitoring equipment
  • Enforce site-specific procedures and health & safety regulations
  • Support protection of classified materials and sensitive infrastructure
  • Liaise with emergency services and site management as needed

  • Must be a British citizen by birth or have held a British passport for at least 5 years
  • Hold a valid SIA licence
  • Must be able to obtain SC (Security Clearance)
  • 5-year checkable work history is required
  • Flexible to work days, nights, and weekends
