Join our team as a Relief Screening Officer and play a vital role in maintaining the security and safety of people and property within the assigned area. This position is key to ensuring a secure environment by observing and reporting activities, managing incidents, and conducting screening procedures using wands and metal detectors. You will be part of a team committed to delivering high standards of service through ongoing training and professional development.
Job Details
- Location: Newport/Cardiff
- Pay: £19.17 per hour
- Hours: Average of 30 hours per week
- Grade: 3.1 Site Based
Responsibilities
- Require datacentre personnel to utilise metal detection and/or wand for secure area access
- Monitor traffic flow through screening checkpoints
- Follow security breach procedures by notifying supervisors or other appropriate personnel
- Perform hand-held wand searches and walk-through metal detection searches
- Follow safe work practices and be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety. Notify superiors of any unsafe working conditions.
- Carry out all functions, duties, or tasks in an honest, ethical, and professional manner, following applicable company policies and procedures. Seek clarification from superiors or authorised company representatives when uncertain.
- Demonstrate understanding and engagement with the Securitas Core Values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness, while recognising risk within the workplace and prioritising safety.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in datacentre operations or equivalent security industry experience; or equivalent experience in forces/services
- Previous supervisory experience is ideal
- Great customer service skills
- Right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history
- Reliable and great team player
- Flexible & contactable out of hours
- Willingness to learn and work to structured procedures
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
