Financial Accountant

The Role

The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial information for decision-making. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial processes and supporting business objectives through effective financial management.

Role Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), or other relevant standards.
• Assist in preparing management reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.

General Ledger Management:

• Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning.
• Analyse variances between actuals and budgets/forecasts, providing insights and recommendations.

Tax Compliance:

• Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
• Collaborate with external advisors to manage tax audits and filings.

Audit and Compliance:

• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.

Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
• Optimise working capital through effective accounts payable and receivable management.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
• Stay updated on industry developments and accounting standards to ensure best practices.

Education and Experience Requirements

As the Finance Assistant, you will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (completed or in progress).
• 3+ years of experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Familiarity with tax laws, audit processes, and financial compliance requirements.
