What you’ll be doing

At Secure Trust Bank we’re transforming how we make lending decisions through data, analytics and technology. We’re building a modern Decision Science capability that combines deep credit expertise, advanced analytics, modern modelling techniques and automation to deliver smarter decisions and better outcomes for our customers. As Senior Manager – Decision Science, you’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of material credit models and predictive analytical solutions across our consumer portfolios. This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role: alongside leading complex model developments and developing colleagues, you’ll remain close to the data, methods and code, providing senior technical leadership and constructive challenge across assigned model developments.

Working under the Head of Decision Science, you’ll turn the function’s strategy and model roadmap into high-quality delivery. You’ll help modernise the modelling environment, embed robust development and monitoring standards, and ensure analytical outputs translate into practical credit strategies, measurable portfolio improvements and responsible customer outcomes. The role focuses on models supporting customer selection, affordability, credit strategy and portfolio decisioning, working collaboratively with the Risk Models & Credit Strategy functions where data, methodology or governance dependencies exist.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development, implementation and optimisation of credit risk and decisioning models across the customer lifecycle.
  • Build and enhance application scorecards, behavioural models, affordability assessments and customer management strategies.
  • Develop predictive models including propensity, profitability, segmentation, forecasting and next-best-action solutions.
  • Apply advanced statistical, machine learning and analytical techniques to drive customer, commercial and risk outcomes.
  • Own model monitoring, performance tracking and champion/challenger frameworks to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
  • Ensure robust model governance, documentation, controls and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilise Python, SQL and modern analytical tools to create scalable, automated and efficient modelling solutions.
  • Partner with Credit Strategy, Risk, Data, Technology and Product teams to deliver impactful decisioning capabilities.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to Decision Scientists and analysts while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in Decision Science, credit risk modelling or advanced analytics within consumer lending or a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing application scorecards, behavioural scorecards and predictive models used in live lending decisions.
  • Advanced technical capability in Python and SQL, with experience of SAS, R or other analytical tools considered advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end model lifecycle, including development, validation, implementation, monitoring and optimisation.
  • Strong statistical and predictive modelling expertise, including scorecard development, segmentation, regression techniques and model evaluation.
  • Experience translating analytical insights into practical credit strategies that drive customer, risk and commercial outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead analytical projects, coach and develop high-performing analysts, and provide technical leadership across teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and commercial judgement, with a strong understanding of model governance, regulatory requirements and best practice within a controlled environment.
