Secure Trust Bank is a well‑funded, specialist UK retail bank with over 70 years' experience supporting consumers and businesses to fulfil their ambitions. We're ambitious about the future - strengthening our position as the UK's most trusted specialist lender while continuing to evolve our culture, capabilities and ways of working. Our people sit at the heart of that ambition. We believe in autonomy, accountability and performance, and we create an environment where expertise is valued, ideas are welcomed, and people can make a genuine impact.

We're looking for a Director, Speciality Finance to play a pivotal role in growing and managing our lending relationships with non‑bank specialist lenders. This is a senior, hands‑on role combining origination, relationship leadership and credit stewardship, with real ownership from deal inception through to in‑life portfolio management. You’ll work at the centre of our Speciality Finance business, shaping transactions, engaging with senior counterparties and Credit Committees, and helping to drive sustainable growth across asset‑based lending, bridging finance and related speciality finance structures.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Originate and develop new lending relationships with non‑bank specialist lenders, building a high‑quality pipeline across bridging, development finance and other speciality finance assets.
  • Lead the structuring and end‑to‑end execution of new facilities and upsizes, from initial terms and credit approval through to documentation, drawdown and ongoing management.
  • Act as the senior relationship owner for an allocated portfolio, representing the Bank with counterparty management teams and leading regular portfolio review discussions.
  • Take full ownership of annual reviews, amendments and upsizes, ensuring robust credit assessment, timely approvals and strong governance.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing relationships, working closely with Credit, Legal, Risk and Compliance colleagues.
  • Prepare and present high‑quality credit papers to Credit Committee, confidently articulating complex financial, structural and risk considerations.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, analysing borrowing base data, loan tapes and management information, and proactively escalating emerging risks or trends.

About You

We're keen to hear from people who bring strong technical expertise and a collaborative, values‑led mindset. You’ll likely bring:

  • Significant experience in speciality finance or a closely related area such as asset‑based lending, warehouse lending or ABS.
  • A proven track record in both origination and in‑life portfolio management within the UK non‑bank lending market.
  • Strong understanding of lender operating models, funding structures and the UK regulatory environment.
  • Confidence analysing complex loan data, cashflows and collateral, with the ability to challenge constructively and identify risk early.
  • Experience authoring and presenting credit proposals to senior Credit Committees.
  • Well‑developed financial modelling and scenario analysis capability.
  • The presence and credibility to build trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.

How We Work

At Secure Trust Bank, we value:

  • Ownership - taking accountability and pride in what we deliver.
  • Collaboration - working together across disciplines to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Customer focus - keeping customers and counterparties at the centre of our decisions.
  • Risk awareness - balancing growth with strong credit and conduct standards.
  • High performance - recognising delivery, integrity and impact.

We offer competitive reward, flexible and hybrid working where possible, and the opportunity to make a visible impact in a growing, specialist business.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We're committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly encourage candidates from under‑represented groups within financial services. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know.
