Our Client is looking for a highly capable Infrastructure Engineer to be central to delivering a major Microsoft 365 migration and helping to shape the combined Microsoft environment. Much of this role will be project-based, involving scoping, planning, designing & delivering - but you will also be a valued member of the Infrastructure Team day to day.
Responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer role would include:
- Work as part of the Infrastructure Team to plan & deliver Microsoft 365 migration (365 & Azure) as part of pending merger.
- Support & contribute to configuration, administration & optimisation of Microsoft Entra ID, Intune & Azure.
- Help manage provisioning, monitoring, maintenance & security of cloud-based infrastructure.
- Contribute to design & implementation of cloud-based solutions across Microsoft 365 platform.
- Ensure systems & services are optimised for performance & security.
- Support testing & maintenance of backup & disaster recovery processes.
- Measure, document & articulate risks & mitigating actions related to migration programme.
- Create & maintain documentation relating to systems, configurations & processes.
- Ensure regular system patching & support cyber security operations with vendors.
- Employ a structured testing regime & adhere to change management processes.
- Work alongside the IT Operations Manager to maintain audit compliance & certifications.

Key Skills & Experience Required for Infrastructure Engineer role:
- Working within a Microsoft-first organisation making extensive use of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online & OneDrive for Business.
- Microsoft Entra ID - including conditional access, hybrid identity & Entra Connect.
- Microsoft Intune - device enrolment (Autopilot), compliance policies, configuration profiles & application management.
- Microsoft Azure - virtual machines, Azure Virtual Desktop, networking (VNets, NSGs, VNG, load balancers) & storage. Knowledge of event-based architecture is a plus (Service Bus / Event Grid / Front Door / Functions).
- Experience with delivering Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations, ideally using Quest migration tooling (e.g., Quest On Demand Migration).
- Solid understanding of networking - DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, ZTNA & proxy configurations.
- PowerShell or Bash for scripting administration, automation & reporting.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an IT infrastructure role.
- Must hold active Microsoft certifications.
Any of the following would be an additional:
- Experience with Quest migration toolset including pre-migration analysis & coexistence configuration.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for compliance, data classification & information protection.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Identity) or Crowd Strike is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Sentinel or Azure Monitor for security operations & observability.
- SQL Server administration, including performance troubleshooting & optimisation.
- Experience with any MDM tooling such as Intune, PatchMyPC, Ninja.
- Cyber security experience or accreditation (e.g., SC-300, AZ-500).
- Excellent team working & customer service skills.
- Proven communication, analytical & problem-solving skills to resolve issues & maximise benefit of IT services.
- Exposure to ITIL processes & formal change management.
- Experience working within a merger or integration programme.
