The opportunity

Join a cutting-edge robotics engineering team focused on developing commercial humanoid robots. In this role, you will engineer precise, automated control quality metrics and build evaluation pipelines that ensure consistent and objective performance measurement across a fleet of robots. You will develop infrastructure for automated, deterministic control testing integrated into continuous integration systems, supporting hardware-in-the-loop and simulation environments. You will enable engineers to compare control software releases reliably and track fleet-wide control health over time.

What you could work on

  • Develop quantitative control quality metrics from robot data, simulations, and live telemetry
  • Maintain metric definitions with versioning to ensure long-term comparability
  • Create automated test harnesses that enable reproducible and deterministic control evaluation
  • Integrate control performance evaluation into CI pipelines with automatic regression detection
  • Build tools for engineers to compare different control software versions effectively
  • Design per-robot and fleet-level test suites runnable by other teams without controls expertise
  • Monitor control performance trends such as drift, variability, and degradation across robots
  • Develop dashboards to provide clear visibility of control health and performance
  • Hands-on experience with robotics systems, robot data, timing, and hardware experiment challenges
  • Proficient in Python and modern C++ for real-time control code instrumentation
  • Built test automation, evaluation frameworks, or benchmarking tools adopted by engineering teams
  • Strong skills in measurement, data analysis, and statistical judgment for system performance
  • Experience with robot middleware and data formats (ROS/ROS2), CI/CD pipelines, and Git workflows
  • Familiarity with robot kinematics/dynamics or control system concepts is advantageous
  • Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop testing and physical regression testing is a plus
  • Experience with simulation environments and fleet operations beneficial
