An established Fire and Security company is looking for a Health, Safety and Compliance Manager to oversee safety, quality and industry compliance across its offices, engineers and customer sites. This is a practical position combining office based responsibilities with regular travel to sites. The company will consider an experienced Health and Safety or Compliance professional, as well as a Senior Fire and Security Engineer or Project Manager with strong knowledge of safe working practices, industry standards and audit requirements.
Our client is an established specialist within the Fire and Security industry. The business is committed to maintaining high standards across its office, engineers, subcontractors and work completed on customer sites. They are looking for someone who can oversee existing procedures, identify improvements and ensure the business remains safe, compliant and fully prepared for NSI and BAFE audits.
As the Health, Safety and Compliance Manager, you will ensure engineers and subcontractors work safely and that completed Fire and Security works meet the required standards. You will review RAMS, complete engineer and site inspections, carry out equipment and ladder checks, audit the quality and compliance of engineers’ work and provide practical guidance to engineers and management. You will also support preparations for NSI and BAFE audits, ensuring records, processes and documentation remain accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Health and Safety compliance across company office, customer sites & engineers
- Review RAMS and recommend improvements where required
- Carry out Health and Safety, quality and compliance audits
- Complete site inspections and audit engineers
- Check that completed Fire and Security works meet the required standards
- Conduct ladder, equipment, PPE and general safety checks
- Support preparation for NSI and BAFE audits
- Maintain accurate compliance records, policies and supporting documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve procedures and working practices
- Provide practical compliance guidance to engineers, Project Managers and senior management
- Ensure employees and subcontractors follow safe systems of work
- Support the investigation and recording of accidents, incidents and near misses
- Manage and oversee an existing Compliance Assistant, while benefiting from their day to day support with compliance administration, record keeping and preparation for NSI and BAFE audits
The company is open to candidates from several relevant backgrounds, including Health and Safety, SHEQ, compliance, Fire and Security engineering or project management. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience within the Fire and Security industry or a similar technical engineering environment
- A strong understanding of Health and Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Experience reviewing RAMS, risk assessments and method statements
- Knowledge of NSI and BAFE standards and audit preparation
- Experience completing site inspections, engineer audits or quality checks
- NEBOSH, IOSH and/or a recognised Fire Safety qualification
This position could also suit an experienced Fire and Security Engineer or Project Manager who wants to move away from a fully operational role and use their industry knowledge to improve safety, quality and compliance across the business.
