Operating nationwide, they work with prestigious customers across Data Centres, Defence, Telecommunications and other high-security facilities, delivering technically challenging projects to the highest industry standards. Following significant business growth and continued investment, they are now looking to appoint a Fire Alarm Design & Estimator to support the next phase of expansion.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Alarm Design professional looking to step into a senior technical leadership position within a growing organisation. The successful candidate will take ownership of the design and estimating function, producing compliant Fire Alarm system designs for high-profile projects while supporting the wider business with technical expertise. You'll also oversee a CAD Designer, review drawings, assist with technical proposals and occasionally attend site visits where required. With remote working, just one office day each week and only around 15 UK site visits annually, this role offers an excellent balance between autonomy and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing Fire Alarm systems for commercial and critical infrastructure projects
  • Producing detailed design drawings and technical documentation
  • Preparing estimates and supporting tender submissions
  • Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with relevant standards and client specifications
  • Managing and supporting an in-house CAD Designer
  • Providing technical support to project and operational teams
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery
  • Attending occasional site surveys and design meetings across the UK
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the design department

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing Fire Alarm systems
  • Strong understanding of BS 5839 and current Fire Alarm standards
  • Experience producing technical drawings and design documentation
  • Previous estimating or tendering experience would be highly advantageous
  • Leadership experience or the ability to mentor and support junior design staff
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Experience with Gas Suppression systems would be highly advantageous, however training can be provided for the right individual. This position would suit a Fire Alarm Design Engineer, Fire Systems Designer, Design Engineer, Estimator, Design & Estimating Engineer, Senior Fire Alarm Designer or an experienced Technical Manager looking to join a growing specialist business delivering some of the UK's most prestigious Fire Protection projects.
