Securafit is an established security installation and entrance solutions company based in the UK, specialising in commercial quality physical and electronic security systems. They are currently recruiting for an Engineering Stores Technician to support their growing manufacturing and installation operations.

The key objectives within this role as an Engineering Stores Technician would be to optimise stock inventory, utilisation and rotation. Provide proactive daily support to the teams in the field and undertake effective repair of asset automation/access control.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Stores and Inventory Control
    • Responsibility for the stores organisation, ensuring efficient, high-quality repair and refurbishment of all returned assets and components.
    • Manage the planning and prioritisation of repairs, resources, skills allocation.
    • Maintain effective governance over spares availability, stock control coordination.
    • Ensure critical spare parts are available to support maintenance activities.
    • Maintain accurate stock records, including minimum re-order levels, stock searches and perpetual stock counts.
    • Ensure all parts delivered to stores are accurate and match purchase orders.
    • Asset recovery carrying out bench repairs to return them to a serviceable status.
    • Identify parts for refurbishment or stripped for usable sub-components.
  • Purchasing & Supplier Management
    • Support the purchasing process including price negotiation, order placement and supplier performance monitoring.
    • Work with suppliers to improve lead times, service levels and cost efficiencies.
    • Source new or alternative parts when required.
    • Ensure pricing and lead time information is correctly updated within the Simpro system.
    • Investigate and resolve invoice queries where purchase order tolerances are exceeded.
    • Work with the relevant teams to ensure specific technical products and parts are fit for purpose.
  • Operational Support
    • Acting as first point of contact for technical queries from the engineers to elevate knowledge and provide field-based solutions.
    • Run daily order reports and ensure timely receipt of parts.
    • Acting as the first point of contact for engineers who need to identify specific components or find alternatives for discontinued parts.
    • Track repair items and warranties through in-house database.
    • Support engineering teams by expediting urgent parts and repairs when required.
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance
    • Maintain a safe and organised engineering stores environment.
    • Follow company health, safety, hygiene and environmental policies.
    • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Continuous Improvement & Communication
    • Identify opportunities to improve stores processes and inventory management.
    • Support initiatives to reduce working capital and optimise stock levels.
    • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Finance teams to resolve issues quickly.
    • Maintain clear communication regarding supplier deliveries and outstanding orders.

Skills And Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a stores/goods in/out environment with high value components inventory or similar. Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. Experience with spares planning, logistics coordination, and stock control systems. Background in engineering and/or manufacturing mechanical, electromechanical, electrical or similar. Exposure to root-cause analysis, or development of test/repair methodologies.
