A prestigious independent school in London is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR & Payroll Officer to join their established team. As a key point of contact for HR, payroll, and pensions queries, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of HR operations across the school.

  • HR Administration & Advisory
    • Acting as the first point of contact for HR-related queries
    • Managing the day-to-day administration of the HR system (Every HR)
    • Coordinating pre-employment checks in line with safeguarding requirements
    • Supporting senior leadership, including Headteachers and the COO, on employee relations matters
    • Preparing job descriptions and recruitment packs
  • Payroll
    • Managing the payroll process in line with policies and deadlines
    • Collating and submitting payroll data to an outsourced provider
    • Reviewing payroll reports and resolving discrepancies
    • Ensuring compliance with pay regulations, including National Minimum Wage
  • Pensions
    • Administering pension contributions and maintaining accurate records
    • Liaising with pension providers and finance teams
    • Managing end-of-year returns and responding to employee queries
  • Data & Compliance
    • Maintaining the Single Central Register in line with safeguarding standards
    • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and internal policies
    • Updating HR policies in line with current regulations

Experience required:

  • Previous payroll experience, ideally within an education setting
  • Experience with systems such as Cintra or Breathe (desirable)
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, discreet, and proactive approach
