The Role: I am recruiting a Financial Planning Assistant (Client Relationship Manager) on behalf of Wealth Matters, a leading independent Financial Planning firm based in Luton (LU1). Working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and client-focused team, you will support the Financial Planners and Paraplanners with delivering an exceptional financial planning service to Wealth Matters clients. The Financial Planning Assistant (internally titled Client Relationship Manager) helps to maintain and develop client relationships, preparing for and arranging meetings for the Financial Planners and actioning all tasks arising from these meetings, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within tight deadlines.

They will possess exceptional relationship-building, customer service, and administrative skills. Salary and Benefits: GBP30-37,000 (depending on experience) + bonus based on individual and company performance + 26.5 days holiday + bank holidays + pension + hybrid working. We are happy to support professional exams, which can lead to salary increases upon passing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Financial Planners in delivering exceptional financial planning services.
  • Developing client relationships, arranging meetings, and being the main point of contact for client queries.
  • Assisting with pre- and post-meeting preparation, including researching client arrangements, collating documents, producing compliant illustrations and application forms, and completing actions such as fund switches and withdrawals.
  • Processing new business applications and supporting documentation.
  • Contract administration for recommended products (pensions, ISAs, investments, bonds, protection).
  • Producing management information and maintaining client data on the back-office system.
  • Supporting general administration and the development of standard operating procedures.

Skills and experience required include:

  • Experience in a customer service support role in a professional services environment (financial planning experience is not essential; training will be provided).
  • Intelligence, ambition, proactivity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills, tact, trustworthiness, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Professional appearance, confident communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently, set goals, manage workflow, and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical skills, excellent administrative and organizational skills, keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and strong technological and mathematical aptitude.
