Second Front Systems (2F) is seeking a Senior Technical Implementation Engineer to join our UK team. We are a fast-growing defence technology company working at the convergence of technology and national security. The role is dynamic and wide-ranging, focused on the deployment and scale of our Game Warden DevSecOps platform within the UK government, NATO and secure cloud environments. This is an individual contributor role suited to a technically strong engineer who is comfortable operating independently, managing complex deployments end-to-end, and engaging directly with senior stakeholders. You will be the primary technical presence in UK customer environments, working closely with 2F’s US-based teams to ensure delivery excellence.
Security Clearance Requirement: This position requires the holder to hold, or be eligible to obtain, Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. Candidates must be UK nationals (or hold dual nationality with the UK as one nationality) and have sufficient UK residency history to be sponsored for DV. Active DV clearance is strongly preferred. This role cannot be progressed without clearance eligibility.
Location: Hybrid remote (UK-based). The role requires frequent travel to customer and partner sites across the UK and NATO to support customer requirements. Candidates must be based within the UK and willing to travel as required by operational demand.
What You'll Do:
- Manage the full lifecycle of technical implementations within the UK government and secure cloud environments, from initial scoping to live deployment, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to the required security and quality standards.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for UK customers during implementation, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and resolving issues with a minimum of escalation.
- Provide hands‑on Kubernetes expertise across deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting, ensuring best practices are applied consistently in classified and sensitive environments.
- Work independently to coordinate technical requirements across internal Product, Engineering, and Growth teams, identifying and resolving blockers proactively.
- Implement and continuously improve processes and tooling that increase implementation efficiency and quality, drawing on direct customer feedback.
- Contribute to the development of UK‑specific deployment patterns and documentation, supporting 2F’s growing presence in the UK defence, NATO and national security market.
- Exhibit a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset, resolving technical and procedural challenges promptly to keep programmes on track.
- Proficient in using AI tools (such as Claude and Gemini) to accelerate and enhance day‑to‑day work, from code generation, debugging, and documentation to research and problem‑solving — with sound judgement about where AI adds value and where human oversight is required.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in technical implementation, DevOps, or a related engineering discipline, with a demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects independently.
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Keycloak and container orchestration, with proven experience deploying and managing applications at scale.
- Prior experience working within UK defence tech, SaaS, or cloud‑based environments.
- Knowledge of compliance and security standards, particularly UK government security frameworks and accreditation processes (e.g. JSP 604, Secure By Design).
- Multi Cloud experience: AWS, Azure, GCP.
- Experience working with Git and standard ticketing (JIRA) and project management tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including senior government personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with competing priorities, maintaining quality and pace in ambiguous environments.
- High degree of personal accountability and resilience; comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast‑moving, distributed team.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CKA, AWS, Azure) are advantageous.
Salary: The base salary for this position will fall between £70,000 - £90,000. Your ultimate compensation will be determined by professional background, technical proficiency, seniority, and regional cost factors. Furthermore, this opportunity includes potential eligibility for equity awards and discretionary bonuses, rounding out a comprehensive total rewards offering.
