About us
Seccl is the Octopus-owned embedded investment platform that is on a mission to help more people invest - and invest well. We are B-Corp certified with an amazing product-market fit, impressive early traction and the potential to transform an outdated industry for the better. We have been growing fast and will scale even faster over the next few years.
The role
We are looking for a Senior product designer to take Seccl to the next stage of our product's growth journey. We are at an exciting inflection point - as an API-first company built on strong foundations, we have empowered customers to build solutions on top of our platform. Now, we are ready to take the next step transforming how we think, design and deliver experiences through adviser and investor-facing UIs and portals. You will join us as our first Senior product designer, leading the evolution of design best practice and ensuring creative excellence in every aspect of our work.
This is an opportunity to:
- Shape the role of design within our product and engineering-led culture, introducing customer-centred thinking into a space that is ready to scale and innovate.
- Act as the trusted adviser to product leadership, shaping scalable, user-first design whilst remaining hands-on designing the product and a scalable design system.
- Create the UX strategy and roadmap for a fast-growing fintech that wants to disrupt an outdated industry.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and gather user feedback through various methods to understand customer needs and pain points.
- Lead on the UX for product initiatives - representing the voice of the customer to directly improve the overall customer experience ultimately reducing friction and increasing efficiencies.
- Contribute to multiple high-performing, autonomous squads where your ideas will directly influence our success.
On a typical day you will be:
- Designing and optimising end-to-end customer journeys across mobile and web platforms to address pain points, drive business outcomes and deliver value for our customers.
- Collaborating with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to co-create solutions that are technically feasible and commercially impactful.
- Defining UX approaches and research plans across initiatives and teams.
- Engaging directly with customers to gather requirements, validate solutions, and ensure the product delivers real value.
- Using both quantitative and qualitative data to inform evidence-based decisions.
- Taking an active part in evolving Seccl's design system.
This role's for you if:
- You have experience within UX design and cross-platform – you have designed both web and mobile features in a B2C or D2C environment.
- You are comfortable working with data and insights to guide decisions and experienced in customer research methods.
- You have a keen eye for detail, strong visual design skills, and the ability to translate complex user journeys into simple, intuitive interfaces.
- You have a clear bias for action and proactivity – you take the initiative to spot opportunities, gather insights, and move things forward, even when the path isn’t fully defined.
- You thrive in ambiguous environments, where priorities can change, but you are able to add clarity – structuring problems and shaping them into actionable work.
- You leverage modern best-in-class tooling and have experience using AI in your workflows.
- You have empathy for others – through mentorship, sharing knowledge, and modelling high standards.
This role isn’t for you if:
- You rely on a lot of top-down direction.
- You are not comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- You struggle to follow through on ideas.
- You don’t like change.
What’s in it for you
We offer a generous mix of benefits for the things that really matter to our people, including:
- A salary between £65,000 and £80,000 – dependant on experience + reviewed annually.
