About us
Seccl is the Octopus-owned embedded investment platform that’s on a mission to help more people to invest – and invest well. We’re B-Corp certified with an amazing product-market fit, impressive early traction and the potential to transform an outdated industry, for the better. We’ve been growing fast and will scale even faster over the next few years. We’re also proud to be part of Octopus, the £multi billion group that’s on a mission to breathe new life into broken industries, through companies like Octopus Energy, Octopus Investments and Octopus Money.
The role
We’re looking for an experienced People partner to join our People team. Reporting directly to our Senior people partner, you’ll work closely with leaders and teams across Seccl to shape and deliver our people roadmap as we continue to scale. This is a high-impact role coming to market at an exciting time of growth, where you’ll play a pivotal part in enabling Seccl to achieve its big ambitions. You’ll join a values-led, people-centric team that sits at the heart of the business. We’re a close-knit, commercially focused group who partner across every area of Seccl to drive performance, engagement, growth and belonging. The team is focused on building simple, scalable people practices; designing high-impact learning and development initiatives; and supporting leaders to build strong, diverse, high-performing teams. As our people roadmap evolves, you’ll have the opportunity to own meaningful projects, coach and mentor our People adviser, and help shape the culture that enables our people to do the best work of their lives.
On a typical day you will be…
- Partnering with people leaders to deliver their people plans aligned with the people strategy and business roadmap.
- Providing guidance, advice, and coaching across the full people lifecycle, from onboarding through to performance, progression and exit.
- Leading on performance management and people relations activity for assigned business areas, ensuring outcomes are fair, consistent and aligned to our operating principles.
- Collaborating with the Senior people partner to design and deliver learning and development programmes that build leadership, technical and behavioural capability.
- Championing an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing culture by listening to our people and shaping initiatives that strengthen belonging and that help our people stay healthy, engaged and productive.
- Using people data and insights to inform decision-making and measure impact across engagement, performance, and retention.
This role’s for you if…
- You have solid generalist and people partnering experience, with the ability to design and deliver tailored people plans that support business goals.
- You’re hands-on, practical, and happy to roll up your sleeves to get things done in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
- You bring strong people relations experience and can confidently navigate complex cases while balancing fairness, care, and commercial needs.
- You’re skilled at building relationships - influencing, coaching and supporting stakeholders at all levels with strong commercial awareness.
- You understand and champion human-centric ways of working, helping to embed a people-first culture across the business.
- You’re comfortable using data and systems to spot trends, guide decisions, and measure impact.
- You’re resilient and steady under pressure, able to adapt to ambiguity, hold boundaries, and maintain clarity and compassion through periods of change or challenge.
(Desirable) You have experience designing or delivering learning and development programmes and/or leading recruitment to support hiring plans.
This role isn’t for you if…
- You rely on a lot of top-down direction. Here, you’ll have a lot of freedom and ownership of your role, and you’ll be expected to shape your own progression.
- You’re not comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Our speed and scalability are what set us apart; you need to be able to act quickly and think on your feet.
- You struggle to follow through on ideas. We value people who do what they say they will. If you care about something, you have the freedom here to make it happen.
- You don’t like change. You’ll get on great here if you relish the ambiguity of rapid growth and are willing to embrace uncertainty.
What’s in it for you…
We offer a generous mix of benefits for the things that really matter to our people, including:
- A salary between £45,000 and £60,000 – dependant on experience + reviewed annually.
- 27 days holiday + bank holidays (some can be flexible) + day off on your birthday + three days (full time) per year for Dependant leave.
