Main duties of the job
As a Community First Responder (CFR) with SECAmb, you will provide emergency care, reassurance and support to patients until ambulance crews arrive, often during some of the most difficult and distressing moments in their lives. This voluntary role requires excellent communication skills, teamwork, compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to equip you with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to emergencies.
The role includes the following:
- Attend all six days of Level 3 training: 5‑6 September, 19‑20 September, 3‑4 October.
- Pass each assessment and complete additional required training and online modules.
- Commit to a minimum of 20 volunteer hours per month for a two‑year period.
- Maintain a valid Class B vehicle with tax, MOT and insurance.
Person Specification
- Hold a full UK driving licence for at least one year with no more than three penalty points.
- Provide access to a Class B vehicle.
- Be aged 18 + and able to commit to the required training and volunteer hours.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Display compassion, caring, teamwork and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Be physically fit enough to undertake CPR and other emergency procedures.
- Commit to a minimum of 20 hours per month (approximately 4 hours per week).
- Have a reliable means of transportation and a willingness to travel to emergency scenes within the SECAmb area.
