Season is a modern cookshop for people who care about food and design. We’re hiring a high-standards Store Manager to run our West Hampstead shop day-to-day and protect a signature customer experience: warm, smart, and genuinely helpful. This is a small shop. You’ll be the person creating amazing customer experiences, with a support team member handling stock, web orders, packing and admin. If you like owning results — converting great conversations into sales, making judgement calls, coaching daily, and making standards stick — you’ll love it.
What you’ll actually do
- Customer experience (the main thing): Lead every customer interaction: warm welcome, great questions, thoughtful recommendations, and a confident send-off. Handle tricky moments well: complaints, returns, busy periods — calm, fair, fast. Keep the shop feeling warm, calm and brilliantly run even on the hectic days.
- Team leadership: Coach daily: clear expectations, fast feedback, and consistent standards. Develop your team: turn “good” into “great” through simple routines and accountability.
- Operations: Rota planning, basic cash/compliance, stock accuracy, merchandising standards, tidy back-of-house. Use a few simple KPIs to improve week by week.
This role is for you if…
- You’ve led a retail or hospitality team and you like being accountable for outcomes.
- You naturally coach — you enjoy raising performance without drama.
- You’re calm, organised, and decisive when you’re the person in charge.
- You like food, and you enjoy helping people feel more capable.
This role is not for you if…
- You want a big team around you all day.
- You dislike standards, feedback, or being “the one who owns the room”.
- You prefer minimal responsibility.
What you get
- Staff discount
- Real autonomy in a high-standards environment
- A role where good judgement and strong leadership actually matter
