Season is a small, premium cookware specialist with stores in London and a clear point of view: fewer, better things, chosen for quality, function and considered design. We are looking for a part-time Buyer to help ensure our stores are stocked with the right products, in the right quantities, at the right time. Working mainly remotely, you will play a central role in managing the flow of our exceptional cookware range, much of which is sourced from China.
We can be flexible to a degree, but initially we're thinking 3 hours each (early) morning, Mon-Fri. This is an important role at an exciting moment for the business. Season is at the beginning of a new phase of growth, and this position offers the chance to have real influence in a small, ambitious company where good judgement and commercial instinct will be genuinely valued.
You will use predictive buying software to support purchasing decisions, manage supplier relationships, and help oversee the practicalities of importing stock efficiently and cost-effectively.
What you’ll be doing:
- Planning and purchasing stock to maintain healthy availability across our stores
- Using predictive buying software to support forecasting and replenishment
- Liaising with suppliers, primarily in China
- Negotiating with suppliers on pricing and terms
- Consolidating shipments to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Managing import-related administration, including duties and related processes
- Helping us make smart, commercially sound buying decisions as we grow
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a buying or stock planning role
- Confidence working with suppliers and negotiating effectively
- Experience consolidating shipments
- Practical knowledge of imports, duties and related logistics
- Strong organisational skills and good commercial judgement
- Comfortable working remotely and semi-autonomously
- Able to start early when needed, with 7am starts at the latest to accommodate China’s time zone
A bonus, but not essential:
- An interest in cooking or baking
- An eye for functional, well-made design
- An appreciation for premium products and the details that set them apart
What you can expect:
The Managing Director will work closely with you to explain our buying process and support you as you get up to speed. The aim is for you to become confident working with a good degree of autonomy, while still feeling properly supported. Reward will be discussed based on experience and high performance.
