As part of our womenswear Design team, you will create considered, elegant and commercially successful collections that align with Seasalt’s modern yet timeless aesthetic. The role requires a deep understanding of effortless sophistication, high-quality craftsmanship, and functional yet refined design. Through a balance of creativity, commercial awareness, and sustainable innovation, the Designer will craft pieces that resonate with the brand’s discerning customer.
Please note that this is a full-time, permanent role which is required to be based in Cornwall, working flexibly from our Head Offices (minimum of 3 days per week) and from home.
Key Compensation & LocationSalary: up to £42k depending on experience
Location: Cornwall – relocation allowance available of 5% the offered salary

Responsibilities- Developing seasonal collections that embody a refined, intelligent and wearable aesthetic in line with the brand’s handwriting.
- Translating mood boards, cultural influences and trend research into edited and clear ideas to produce cohesive, elevated and contemporary menswear designs, with a focus on jersey, leveraging the suppliers where possible.
- Designing for menswear with a strong awareness of fabric, fit, drape, and silhouette and proportion to ensure effortless wearability for the customer, reflecting the brand’s signature aesthetic.
- Sourcing and developing premium, sustainable and profitable fabrications, textures, and finishes that align with the brand’s ethos of quality and longevity.
- Ensuring fabric choices enhance functionality of the designs, supported by technical.
- Exploring innovative techniques that reduce waste, optimise material usage, and enhance circularity.
- Creating precise technical drawings, design packs and specifications for design development samples.
- Working closely with the supply base to refine design, fit, proportion and detailing, ensuring a seamless handover to Technical.
- Leading during fittings and development sampling, ensuring each garment meets the highest standards of design, quality and craftsmanship.
- Partnering with the Design, Buying and Merchandising teams to balance creativity with commerciality, ensuring a cohesive visual narrative that will appear across campaigns.
- Presenting and articulating design concepts to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the brand vision, including branding considerations where appropriate.
- Communicating clearly with suppliers and internal teams, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient problem-solving in line with the critical path and updating PLM (Product Lifecycle Management).
- Managing and developing high-performing Assistants, fostering creative excellence, clear ideas and effective decision making.
- Strong academic background in creative subjects and English.
- Proven Experience in similar design roles.
- Proven knowledge of design methodologies.
- Creative, considered and a keen eye for detail.
- Knowledge of trend forecasting.
- Construction knowledge.
- Ability to successfully realise designs in 2D and into 3D.
- Proven proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop for fashion design.
- Proven experience in menswear within fashion retail.
- Proven experience in leading, managing, and developing team members to achieve department goals.
- Strong ability to motivate, coach, and support individuals to meet team objectives.
- Previous experience in overseeing day‑to‑day operations, ensuring team members are meeting performance standards, and addressing any issues that arise.
- Excellent communication skills.
