As a Finance Apprentice you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of finance activities, ensuring reporting is completed accurately and on time to support the continued success and growth of the business. You will rotate across different areas of the finance function, building a strong foundation of knowledge while learning from experienced colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Support invoice processing, supplier payments and purchase orders within Accounts Payable.
- Assist with employee expenses and company credit card processes.
- Reconcile store and online transactions, bank and control accounts, resolving any issues.
- Manage wholesale accounts.
- Perform data integrity checks and basic troubleshooting for finance systems in collaboration with the technical team.
- Prepare accurate and timely management accounts, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Support variance analysis to help budget holders understand spend versus budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with tax and customs compliance across UK and international requirements.
- Support monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering activities to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and commercially meaningful.
Qualifications and Skills
- GCSE Maths (Grade 6/B or above) and English (Grade 4/C or above).
- Three A Levels or equivalent, or Level 2 Accounts/Finance qualification.
- Genuine interest in finance and a desire to develop a career in this area.
- Strong numeracy and confidence working with numbers.
- High attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage professional and learning responsibilities effectively.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Well organised with the ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work as part of a team.
Apprenticeship Details
- 2‑year fixed‑term contract starting in September 2026
- Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Working hours will be based flexibly across Cornwall head office locations (minimum two days per week) and remotely within the UK
- Working towards a Level 3 Assistant Accountant standard with support from a line manager and a Training & Early Career Advisor
