About the Role

Assistant Store Manager – Kendal, UK
32 hours, permanent contract.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Store Manager in creating a service culture that puts the customer at the heart of everything the team does.
  • Enabling the store team to recommend additional services to drive sales such as omni‑channel selling, gathering customer data and recommending add‑on purchases.
  • Supporting recruitment and building a diverse and passionate team.
  • Driving store sales, profitability and consistent KPI achievement – understanding what is required to drive performance.
  • Coaching and developing the store team through regular one‑to‑one meetings and supporting with development plans.
  • Communicating store performance to the team and key stakeholders, providing regular feedback and highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Implementing store visual merchandising, window standards and guidelines, utilising product, category and bestseller information to maximise commercial opportunities.
  • Utilising product information to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Managing store operations – stock management, loss prevention, escalation and incident reporting, health and safety, GDPR, cash handling, keyholder responsibilities and store safety standards.
  • Being a key‑holder for the store and having sole responsibility for running the store when required.

Qualifications

Previous experience leading a team at supervisor level or above in a retail or comparable environment, with proven KPI achievement and budget management.

Strong retail skills, product knowledge and commercial acumen, with a passion for inspiring the team to exceed sales and maximise profitability.

Excellent communication skills, ability to build a culture of trust and develop others, with a willingness to share ideas and think creatively to achieve results.
