At Seasalt, creativity is in our DNA. We began in 1981 in a small shop in Penzance, crafting workwear for local mariners and artists. Today, we’re a modern lifestyle brand with over 80 shops across the UK and Ireland, 400+ wholesale stockists, and a growing global presence. We may have grown, but we’ve always stayed true to our roots with Cornwall’s artistic influence and maritime heritage woven into every garment.
As a certified B Corp and winner of Drapers “Best Place to Work” in 2024, we’re proud to balance our culture with long term growth. It's an exciting time to join us as we build on our distinct creative handwriting, brand differentiation, and expanding both internationally and in the UK.
The Print Design Manager will lead and shape the creative print and colour strategy for Seasalt products, developing timeless, elevated, and commercially successful collections that reflect the brand’s premium aesthetic. Driving print design innovation, strategic vision, and sustainability, this role will ensure print and colour storytelling enhances brand identity.
The Print Design Manager will manage the Print Design team, lead on planning and critical path management, as well as designing our prints. Additionally, the role will lead trend forecasting, colour direction, and print execution while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
While the preference would be for this role to be based in Cornwall with presence in our Head Office 3 days a week, we would also consider applications from remote candidates within the UK who could visit our Head Office on a monthly basis for a period of 2-3 days. For candidates who would relocate to Cornwall, we have a 5% relocation allowance available.
This role will be referred to internally as Print Design Manager. Should candidates be successful for a second stage interview, these will be held in person in our Head Office in Cornwall, including the completion of a project.
You’ll help us by:
- Developing and executing a cohesive, forward-thinking and efficient print and colour strategy that strengthens the brand’s aesthetic, identity and commercial goals.
- Shaping the seasonal print and colour direction, ensuring designs align with customer expectations, brand evolution, and market trends.
- Shaping and curating trend research, inspiration exploration, colour palette development and competitive analysis, translating insights into distinctive and relevant print concepts with clear cohesive messages.
- Collaborating closely with design managers, Director of Design and leadership teams to help set briefs that evolve the brand’s identity while maintaining design consistency and innovation, ensuring alignment with the critical path.
- Leading and developing a high-performing print design team, fostering creative and technical excellence, strategic thinking and effective decision making.
- Presenting print and colour concepts and strategic insights to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with campaign planning, brand vision, retail performance, and growth strategy.
- Overseeing the development of bespoke, hand-rendered, and digital prints, ensuring a clear print handwriting with a sophisticated aesthetic that resonates with the brand’s discerning customer.
- Managing the seasonal colour palette and approval of colour and strike offs, ensuring print, colour and scale compliment fabric choices, enhancing texture, drape and wearability while also ensuring consistency across all product categories.
- Researching and interpreting emerging fashion, art, and cultural influences, translating them into unique print narratives that resonate with the brand aesthetic and seasonal themes.
- Driving innovation in sustainable print processes to ensure alignment with our environmental goals, working with suppliers to implement low-impact printing techniques and optimising material usage to minimise waste.
- Overseeing the workload and critical path management of the print design team, ensuring a solution orientated, smooth workflow from concept to production and championing cross functional collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Partnering with marketing, buying, merchandising, and visual teams to craft compelling narratives around design concepts.
The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:
