SEASALT CORNWALL
At Seasalt, creativity is in our DNA. We began in 1981 in a small shop in Penzance, crafting workwear for local mariners and artists. Today, we’re a modern lifestyle brand with over 80 shops across the UK, Ireland and North America, 400+ wholesale stockists, and a growing global presence. We may have grown, but we’ve always stayed true to our roots with Cornwall’s artistic influence and maritime heritage woven into every garment. As a certified B Corp and winner of Drapers “Best Place to Work” in 2024, we’re proud to balance our culture with long term growth. It's an exciting time to join us as we build on our distinct creative handwriting, brand differentiation, and expanding both internationally and in the UK. As a Product Technologist, you’ll play a key role in bringing a wide range of accessories and slipper products to life, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, fit, performance and safety. Working closely with the Senior Product Technologist and Director of Technical, you’ll help deliver commercially successful ranges that align with Seasalt’s brand standards and business objectives. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll partner with teams across Buying, Design, Compliance, Branding, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail and Wholesale. You’ll support the full product lifecycle, from initial design handover through development and production, making sure every product is delivered on time and in line with the critical path. You’ll work across a diverse accessories range, including socks, tights, hats, jewellery, bags, belts, winter accessories, eyewear and slippers. With a strong technical focus, you’ll help maintain product integrity while continuously driving improvement and innovation across the range. Please note this is a permanent, part time role working 30 hours per week across 4 days (preferably Monday-Thursday). This role is primarily based in one of our head office locations (Falmouth or Redruth) with occasional remote working. You’ll help us by: Managing products from initial design handover through development to production, ensuring alignment with range plans, target costs and critical path timelines. Creating and maintaining accurate product specifications and tech packs within PLM, from concept through to final production. Leading fit sessions and supporting grading, ensuring consistency of fit, quality and construction across all products. Collaborating with Design and Buying to develop products, including advising on fabrics, materials and technical innovations. Assessing product risk throughout development and ensuring all items are fit for purpose and meet required performance standards. Approving samples at all stages (development, pre-production and shipment), ensuring alignment with quality, aesthetic and technical standards. Ensuring all products meet legal, safety and testing requirements in line with UK/EU and global standards. Monitoring product performance, including test reports, returns and customer feedback, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Building strong supplier relationships, clearly communicating specifications and managing ongoing collaboration through regular contact and reviews. Supporting overall technical strategy and cross-functional team collaboration to deliver commercially successful, high-quality product ranges. The skills you’ll be sharing with the team: Experience working as a Product Technologist across multiple product categories. In-depth knowledge of fabrics, yarns, leather and manufacturing techniques. Solid understanding of product construction, fit, grading and technical development. Experience creating product specifications and working with factory production processes. Ability to interpret test reports and manage product approvals. Proven experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Experience working with and communicating with overseas suppliers. Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. A willingness to learn and develop. Previous experience within retail or wholesale fashion would be desirable.
